The
Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation presents the third in a series of
cooking workshops led by Kristin Gluck of …By Request, Unique Pick-up
Foods. The class, What to Eat During the Week, Simple and Tasty
Meals Sure to Please, will be held in the SCHF Academy Building on
Tuesday, February 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again in the evening
from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A class that has all kinds in mind: empty nesters, busy
mom's, newlyweds, and singles; this class will have a meal for you. The
class will offer quick mix and match items to accommodate your busy
lifestyle. Meals will be good enough to serve any night of the week and
healthy enough to eat every night of the week.
Kristin Gluck enjoys creating foods with interesting flavor
combinations using fresh and healthy ingredients. Gluck will be offering
seasonal cooking workshops over the course of the year at SCHF.

The
SCHF offers monthly ballroom dance classes. James Frechette, owner of
Applause Dance Factory in Ridgeland, teaches classes in ballroom, Latin,
swing and many other styles of dance.
Class will meet Sundays, February 11 and 25 from 5 - 7 p.m.
in the Academy Building.
Both individuals and couples are welcomed. The fee is $20 per

The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation is pleased to
partner with Pi Alpha Kappa Sorority to present a special Valentine’s
Concert and Luncheon. To Vicksburg, with Love, a musical celebration
and luncheon will include entertainment ranging from Elvis, to Gospel, to
Broadway.
The entertainment will be provided by Daniel and Julie Lee of
Hattiesburg, Mississippi at noon on Tuesday, February 13 in the SCHF
Auditorium.
Daniel and Julie Lee have an extensive music background and
musical training. They love singing all styles of music, and look forward to
singing for the wonderful people in Vicksburg.
The $10 fee for the performance may be paid at the door and
includes lunch. Reservations are required.

Pi Alpha Kappa began in 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas. A group of
women banded together to form a society to promote growth and
self-improvement throughout their lives. PAK chapters were established
throughout the United States, bringing cultural and educational programs to
their members.
The Vicksburg Chapter of PAK is pleased to offer this
performance and luncheon for the community to enjoy.
SCHF will host a Mardi Gras Mask Workshop for children on
Saturday, February 17.
The class is open to any child age 5 or older. The workshop
will be held in the SCHF Academy Building from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., just
before the annual Mardi Gras Parade in downtown Vicksburg.
Join us to create a fun and colorful mask before enjoying the
parade at 2:00 p.m. The workshop is a great way for kids of all ages to
celebrate the Mardi Gras holiday in a fun and creative way. Plus, those new
mask might just attract more beads at the parade.
Students will enjoy mask making fun followed by a traditional
King Cake snack!

Internationally
known pianist, Ian Hominick, will return to Vicksburg and present a concert
in the SCHF Auditorium on Thursday, February 22 at 7:00 pm.
An active soloist, accompanist, adjudicator and teacher, Dr.
Hominick maintains a busy schedule of concerts and piano masterclasses. He
is currently with the piano faculty at the University of Mississippi.
The performance is presented in conjunction with the
Vicksburg Music Teachers Association.
There is no fee to attend the concert, but donations will be
accepted at the door.

The Southern Book Club meets the third Wednesday of each
month. There is no fee to attend and it is open to the public. The group
focuses on Southern authors and subjects, but is open to any good read. Book
and author suggestions are welcomed.
For February, the Southern Book Club will discuss Saving
Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28.
