Fairy Tale cookingThis new, fun-filled class will involve storytelling and foods associated with each enchanting tale. The class will be held Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00 a.m. Registration for each child is only $15. Children are required to be accompanied by a parent/adult. The parent’s admission is free. Each child will visit three stations around the room. Each of the stations will tell a different story and supply a fun food to go along with the story. Kids are encouraged to dress as their favorite character. Space is limited and reservations are required. Beginning stained glass workshopThis workshop will teach the student how to build a small stained glass panel using the Tiffany style (cooper foil method). Students will learn a brief history of stained glass, pick out a pattern, learn to cut glass, put together a panel using copper foil, and solder their panel. The class will be (4) two-hour sessions, July 7, 14, 21, 28 from 10am-12pm. Registration is $160/SCHF Members and$170/Non-members, and includes stained glass and basic supplies. Space is limited 8 participants and reservations are required. Call Call 601-631-2997 for information. The Rev. Mark Bleakley has worked as a stained glass artist for studios in Houston and Pittsburg, designing, building and restoring church windows. Summer DramaKids CampThe Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation is proudly partnering with the Vicksburg Theatre Guild to present the Southern DramaKids. The performing arts classes will be held July 13-17 and July 20-24 from 9am-11am in the SCHF Auditorium. The registration fee for the entire program is only $50 per student and is open to any child ages 12-18. Trained instructors from the Vicksburg Theatre Guild will guide the students through stage crafts, set designs, improvisation, projection/delivery, reading/auditions, voice, various skits and vocal performances. This program is designed to build acting skills, creative thinking, speaking skills, confidence, leadership abilities, self-esteem and enthusiasm.
At the end of the program, an “Academy Awards” will be held on Monday, July
27 at 6:00pm for the students to showcase what they have learned to family
and friends and also receive special recognition for their completion of the
program. Southern Book ClubThe Southern Book Club meets the third Wednesday of each month. There is no fee to attend and it is open to the public. The group focuses on Southern authors and subjects, but is open to any good read. Book and author suggestions are welcomed. The Southern Book Club will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15.
