MAKING MONEY IN TODAY’S MARKET
Fundamentals of Investing Course

The Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation will host a 5-week financial workshop in the SCHF Academy Building on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 beginning September 2nd. The workshop fee is $40 for SCHF members and $45 for nonmembers. The registration fee also includes an instructive workbook.

No matter what your age, your financial situation or your goals, this workshop will help show you the power of investing. It will teach you how to increase investment income while reducing taxes on those investments. Learn everything from the stock market to other forms of ownership and loanership investments. The focus will be on you and your goals, whether saving for your children’s education or planning for your own retirement.

The class will be lead by experienced Edward Jones financial advisor, Wayne Pratt. The class is open to anyone interested in learning more about finance from beginners to longtime investors. The ever changing world of investing offers plenty for everyone to learn.

Ballroom Dance
presented by James Frechette

The SCHF offers monthly ballroom dance classes. James Frechette, owner of Applause Dance Factory in Ridgeland, teaches classes in ballroom, Latin, swing and many other styles of dance. This month the dance will be the East Coast Swing.

Class will meet Sundays, September 7 and 21 from 5 - 7 p.m. in the academy building.

Both individuals and couples are welcomed. The fee is $20 per person for each two hour session. For more information, please call the SCHF office. at 601-631-2997.


Southern Book Club

The Southern Book Club meets the third Wednesday of each month.

There is no fee to attend and it is open to the public. The group focuses on Southern authors and subjects, but is open to any good read. Book and author suggestions are welcomed.

For September, The Southern Book Club will discuss Vivaldi's Virgins by Barbara Quick at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2008.

Basics of Digital Photography
Tuesday, September 30
5:30 to 7:00 pm

Basics of Digital Photography – The key to knowing how to get the pictures you want is knowing how to set the camera. All ages are welcome to bring their digital cameras and learn how to take better pictures. The class will focus on each student learning about and getting a better understanding of their digital cameras. The class will be a combination of discussion and taking pictures. At the end of the class, each student will get to select their favorite shot to print a 4x6 that will be theirs to keep. Each student is asked to bring their digital camera, fresh batteries and any questions they may have about digital photography! Cost of the workshop is $30/SCHF members and $35/non-members.
